Within the monumental complex of Palazzo Reale, porticoes, courtyards, and gardens lead to spaces once occupied by the royal court and the many service functions required by a palace of such importance. In addition to the Museum of the State Apartment (which was granted autonomous museum status of national significance in 2019), Palazzo Reale today also houses other institutions: the National Library of Naples, the two Superintendencies for the Municipality and Metropolitan Area of Naples, the ‘Memus’ Museum of the Teatro San Carlo, and the ‘Premio Napoli’ Foundation.
