From March 20 to July 6, the Sala Plebiscito and Sala Belvedere at the Royal Palace of Naples will host Pino Daniele. Spiritual, a unique exhibition celebrating the great singer-songwriter on the 70th anniversary of his birth and the 10th anniversary of his passing.
This cultural project aims to evoke the origins of Pino Daniele’s artistic world, his transcendent dimension, and his socio-cultural legacy. For the first time, the story of one of Italy’s most beloved musicians is told through a rich mosaic of audiovisual content, both public and private, including rare materials, unpublished documents, personal objects, and the instruments that accompanied him throughout his creative journey. Each exhibit piece represents a puzzle piece that helps shape the portrait of an artist and a man whose legacy extends far beyond music.
Pino Daniele. Spiritual is not just the title of an exhibition—it encapsulates the deepest essence of one of the most cherished artists, whose musical and personal journey transcended geographical and cultural boundaries, blending diverse traditions into a unique harmony.
A Unique Exhibition
Featuring scenic installations and rare materials provided by the Pino Daniele Foundation, this exhibition presents original items—many of which are being displayed for the first time—documenting the artist’s entire musical and personal experience.
The exhibition is divided into two parts and nine thematic areas:
- The first part (1955–1977) retraces Pino Daniele’s early years up to the release of his debut album. This section includes recreations of key locations, such as his rehearsal space (the Grotta made of tuff stone, a hub for music research and practice) and a typical 1970s Naples live club, offering visitors an immersive journey through his early artistic environment.
- The second part (1977–2014) provides an intimate and complete narration of his life and career, following a chronological path that intertwines his musical evolution with key encounters, collaborations, and productions.
Organization & Significance
Pino Daniele. Spiritual is promoted by the Pino Daniele Foundation, led by Alessandro Daniele, in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Culture, Royal Palace of Naples, Campania Region, and City of Naples. It is produced by C.O.R. Creare Organizzare Realizzare and supported by Rai as a media partner, with contributions from Rai Teche, Archivio Luce, and Fondazione Campania dei Festival. The exhibition is curated by Alessandro Daniele and Alessandro Nicosia.
The project bears the “70/10 Anniversary” seal, which is exclusively granted to events and initiatives that not only honor Pino Daniele’s memory but also contribute significantly to preserving his musical and cultural legacy on the occasion of his 70th birth anniversary and the 10th anniversary of his passing.
Visitor Information
The exhibition will be open to the public from March 20, every day except Wednesdays, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with the last entry at 7:00 PM.
